JOÃO VICTOR DIAS STATISTICIAN & AI BUILDER(MY PHILOSOPHY)
“AI is a tool to extend human capabilities.”
I am a statistician trained at ENCE and a PhD candidate at HC-FMUSP, researching AI in ophthalmology. I build software, collaborate on research and teach people to use technology with purpose.
I co-founded ARB, where I am CTO, and work as a technical partner in healthcare startups. My work brings research, products and education together.

The future I choose to build.
Four convictions that guide what I research, teach and build in healthcare.
AI should give time back to care.
I believe in tools that extend physicians’ capabilities and reduce the work that takes them away from patients. Technology needs to fit the daily reality of care.
02Reliable data comes before extraordinary models.
My thesis is that data quality, context and validation will be decisive in turning models into useful healthcare tools.
03Ophthalmology can open paths for medicine.
I see ophthalmology as a field to investigate, test and demonstrate applications of AI in healthcare. It is where I focus my research and build experience.
04Research needs to meet practice.
I want to bring scientific discovery, products and real-world use closer together. An idea gains value when people can test, understand and use it.
